Overall:
Jar Media is focused on the younger crowd, for whom the Internet is not only a fact of life, but, in some cases, life itself. This is why we particularly like their dating programs: for the Facebook generation, online dating is mainstream. Although we would like to see improvements made to affiliate customer service options, Jar Media pays nice commissions, so we forgive them for not letting us call them at four a.m. on a Sunday.
Ease of Use:
As an affiliate network, Jar Media runs a wide variety of promotions, many of which are exclusive to Jar Media members. We love their dating selection, which targets a younger generation of social networking types. Jar Media exerts a bit more control than typical over what affiliates run what offers. You must choose an offer and then request approval. Jar Media then checks with the merchant to approve your website. They get back to you quickly, though, and always in the affirmative (at least in our case).
Reputation/Security:
Jar Media is based out of San Francisco, where Facebook lives. The Jar Media company culture is characterized by that same attitude of innovation and hip factor. The strategic focus of the corporation is on helping smaller, more local ventures go global. We see this as a good fit for little affiliates who have big dreams. Jar Media wants to grow along with you. We've been impressed by their professionalism and long-term vision. One thing: know which Jar Media you're looking for, as there are other companies going by similar names.
Customer Service:
Jar Media's customer service apparatus is not yet full-grown, but shows promise. You can reach them via email and receive quick, detailed responses, but getting an affiliate manager on the phone isn't as easy. As a young, fast-moving company, it's obvious that they're trying to dedicate limited personnel resources where they're most needed. That's a challenge, no doubt, but we'd like to see more of those resources put in the direction of affiliate support.
Commission Rate:
Jar Media has some hot offers that pay great. As noted, they're aiming at a younger, more tech-savvy crowd. Their My Luv Crush Mobile is a prime example of that strategy. Made for socially networked teenagers in love with their cell phones and looking for love at the same time, My Luv Crush is an easy sale if your website speaks to kids today. The offer also pays nicely, anywhere from $2.25 to $6.50 per download, depending on the location of the end user. You wouldn't necessarily want to get all your dating offers from Jar Media, but they make a nice complement to other affiliate programs because they target that younger crowd.
Ease of Commission Payment:
Checks go out monthly. You can receive payment via PayPal, paper check, direct deposit (U.S. only), or bank transfer (international only). The direct deposit option is nice to have, and not offered by a lot of affiliate programs.
