Overall:
AvaHost offers its customers low cost web hosting without a lot of unnecessary frills (unless you request those specifically). They offer their affiliates much the same experience: effective, but not overly stout. This approach works well in certain respects, such as the easy-to-install linking codes, but less well in other respects, such as the not readily available affiliate support. One other note: AvaHost is notably global, with a website in multiple languages, and therefore may be an especially appealing option for affiliates who deal with international audiences.
Ease of Use:
When we first visited the AvaHost affiliate page, we were a bit baffled, because words were in a different language. Russian? Swahili? But then we clicked on the U.S. flag in the top right corner of the page, and things become easier, and we supposed that AvaHost's international focus could be beneficial if you operate a website with an international audience. AvaHost's statistics and tracking capabilities, however, are not especially robust. On the upside, their link coding system is easy to understand and implement.
Reputation/Security:
AvaHost does not have the kind of pedigree that some large web hosting firms enjoy, but they definitely have a following among budget-conscious consumers and businesses. Based out of Houston, this is the type of company that concentrates on its technology and doesn't worry about PR or marketing too much. They do stand behind their products with a 60 day moneyback guarantee and 99% uptime guarantee. They've been around since 2001 with a solid history of reliable and affordable service, despite the no frills marketing approach.
Customer Service:
In terms of customer service to their web hosting customers, AvaHost does a really solid job. In terms of relating to their affiliate partners, they have a ways to go. You can reach them via email or phone, but you have to go through the general customer service apparatus, rather than dealing with a dedicated affiliate team. AvaHost is most appropriate for affiliates who do not need a lot of hand holding. Again, you're talking about a pretty bare bones approach here.
Commission Rate:
AvaHost pays commission based on what particular product a referred customer purchases. Currently, they offer six products. The basic plan, which pays a $50 commission. The Plus plan, which pays affiliates $70 per sale. Reseller start, which pays $70. Advanced, which pays $100. Platinum, which pays $110. And Reseller 1-3 Year, which pays a commission of $110. AvaHost does pay second tier commissions of 10%, for any webmasters you refer to them.
Ease of Commission Payment:
Unlike some other programs, AvaHost does not make you jump through 15 flaming hoops before you can get your first check. The process is much more casual. Payment goes out monthly, and only when your account balance is $200 or more. You can receive payment via PayPal, bank transfer, or paper check.
